What Jesus Said About Worry

Breaking The Habit of Worry in Two Weeks

I read somewhere that you can break any habit within two weeks. That got my attention. While I don’t believe it can be proven to be true one way or the other, as it could take longer for some whose habit is more entrenched, but the premise gave me hope that with a concerted effort, it could be done. However long it takes, we can rewrite the script of any pattern in our lives using the Word of God. Every time it raises its head, we will need to remind ourselves what Jesus said instead.

I have broken down this brief study into fourteen sections, so we can focus on one concept each day for two weeks. Obviously, fourteen days should not be seen as a guarantee, but rather a reachable goal that we can set before ourselves. If more time is needed, then simply go through this booklet again, letting the Word of God work at work.

Jesus had a lot to say about worry. He simply told us not to do it. He said it does not accomplish anything, nor does it have the power to change whatever it is we are concerned about. Worry or anxiety is a negative form of thinking that can rule our lives. It all begins with thinking about the future, or things beyond our control, which robs us of what we need to get through today. It is certainly a waste of spiritual energy that could be better use elsewhere, if we would only harness it.
